Members of the public will be met with a sea of hats as they line up for their COVID-19 jabs later this month.
Frontline workers at vaccination centres in Eltham and Charlton are taking part in Wear A Hat Day on Friday 26th March to raise vital funds to help find a cure for brain tumours. The event has been organised by David James, the Chief Executive Officer at Greenwich Health, in memory of his good friend Paul Plowman.
Paul, pictured with his daughter Isabelle, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in 2013 after suffering with headaches. He passed away in February 2015, aged 34, leaving his wife Emma and three-year-old Isabelle. Since losing Paul, Emma, along with family and friends, have raised more than £22,500 for Brain Tumour Research.
David said: “It was such a shock when Paul was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. At the time, I had no idea that this disease killed more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.
“I am looking forward to Greenwich Health’s vaccination centres joining in the fun of Wear A Hat Day on 26th March and hoping that people who come for their vaccines will be moved to donate to this very worthy cause.”
