Netflix star Craig Russell is our new Ambassador

TV and film actor Craig Russell is today (Monday 30th September) announced as our new Ambassador.

Having starred in Hollyoaks, The Hatton Garden Heist, and most recently as Mark Antony in Netflix series African Queens: Queen Cleopatra, Craig was devastatingly diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2023.

A year after undergoing surgery to remove a lime-sized, low-grade meningioma and having part of his skull replaced, Craig began working with Brain Tumour Research to campaign and raise awareness for increased government investment into finding a cure.

Before his diagnosis, the 46-year-old had experienced migraines and episodes of brain fog, finding himself confused and lost while driving his children, Teddy and Henry, around.

Craig said: “I’m one of the lucky ones and, hopefully, with your help, there will be more lucky ones.”

The writer and producer helped to launch our 2024 Manifesto at Westminster where he spoke to MPs about the urgent need for change. He said: “Before being told I had a brain tumour, I didn’t know how little funding research this disease receives. It’s opened up conversations with friends and family who have commented how much more they are noticing brain tumour stories in their everyday lives.”

Last year, Craig also supported our petition, which was signed by 81,000 supporters and called on the Government for increased funding into research to find a cure for all types of brain tumours.

We are delighted to welcome Craig to the family and thank him for his continued support in helping to raise awareness in our quest to find a cure for all types of brain tumours.
