Fifteen-year-old Jack Parton took part in Wear A Christmas Hat Day to remember his identical twin brother, Ben, who died of brain cancer.
Jack, who is currently receiving treatment for blood cancer, hosted an open house event, as well as inspiring his fellow pupils and teachers at Kingsmead School in Cannock to don their own festive headwear to support the fundraiser.
Despite two surgeries, 30 sessions of radiotherapy and two cycles of chemotherapy, Ben died in December 2019 – eight months after he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) and 10 days before Christmas.
Since Ben’s death, his family has raised almost £1,000 for Brain Tumour Research, with Jack selling festive accessories and homeware, all whilst undergoing his own chemotherapy.
Proud mum Julie said: “This time of year is always hard as Ben died before Christmas, but we decided to use his love of parties to celebrate his life each December. Jack is doing well and nearing the end of his treatment. I feel privileged to be his mum.”
