As we gear up for our first-ever Wear A Hat Day with Flowers, we’re really pleased to announce that the children’s story book writer and illustrator, Martyn Harvey, has agreed to judge a story writing competition we’ve created to give children something fun and educational to do.
The focus of the competition is, of course, hats and flowers and we are also challenging young authors to include at least one of these other themes: art, geography, maths, history and/or science.
The competition is open to any child between the ages of five and 13 who is taking part in Wear A Hat Day with Flowers.
The winning story will be chosen by Martyn who will read it in a special video.
We will also publicise our favourite stories on our social media platforms.
Martyn said: “This is a really fun project; I am really pleased to be involved. I’m already doing videos for children during lockdown as part of a writing/poetry competition with schools in Kent, so the timing of this competition for Wear A Hat with Flowers is perfect!”
Martyn has been supporting Brain Tumour Research following his aunt’s diagnosis with a low-grade brain tumour.
