Today we mark the sad loss of a much-cherished Brain Tumour Research supporter.
Linda Goode, a mum-of-three and an identical triplet from Lewes, East Sussex, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) in October 2021.
She underwent surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy and remained stable until a scan last summer revealed her tumour had grown.
Despite Linda’s continued efforts to fight the disease, she passed away on Wednesday, aged 51.
On Facebook, her husband Phil said: “There’s no easy way of saying this but Linda Jane died at lunchtime today. It was wonderfully quick and wonderfully peaceful.
“She was surrounded by love and, typical of her, followed her script almost to the word. She chose the day, amongst all the grey we’ve had recently, with a beautiful blue sky.
“Thank you all for your love and support to our family over the last 27 and a half months. It wasn’t ever a road we wanted to travel but we did it well and had fun along the way.
“We will miss her every single day but will always look for breaks in the clouds. Remember, blue skies are what we need.”
Linda, a freelance PE teacher and advisor, inspired family and friends to undertake multiple fundraisers. Together, they raised more than £30,000, enough to sponsor 11 days of research at one of our Centres of Excellence.
Linda took part in our recent Christmas Advent Appeal and she modelled a hat last year (as pictured above), which was auctioned for us as part of a unique collection of haute couture millinery.
Charlie Allsebrook, Community Development Manager for Brain Tumour Research, said: “Linda was a ray of sunshine whose resilience and positivity was truly inspiring. The world is a lesser place without her. She will be remembered as we continue our efforts to find a cure for all types of brain tumours.”
