Member Charities Workshop – Collaborating is key to continuing success

1 min read

We work with our Member Charities on a regular basis, strengthening our voice across the UK, raising awareness and building a game-changing network of world-class Research Centres of Excellence. Our togetherness adds more weight to our campaigning and the effectiveness of brain tumour media coverage.

Our annual gathering with representatives from our Member Charities took place on 12th and 13th May. It provided the opportunity to share success stories and insights, explore ways to help with our individual goals as well as improve opportunities to collaborate on key projects.

It was great to welcome Nicky Huskens, Director of The Dame Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission (TJBCM), a convening body that brings together charities, patients, academics, and representatives from the Government and clinical communities to share information and unify efforts with the aim of eradicating brain tumours.

Members discussed and contributed different topics they felt the Mission should address, which Nicky said she would put forward to the TJBCM Steering Group. Our Chief Executive, Sue Farrington Smith MBE sits on this Steering Group and will work alongside members to progress and implement a detailed plan of action over the coming years.

Members also heard presentations from our Chief Executive, Research Manager, Digital Marketing team and Head of Public Affairs and Campaigning. The presentations updated our members on our successes, future endeavours and how we can collaborate to increase our effectiveness.

This annual workshop is an important event in our calendar, enabling us to grow and provide better support for the brain tumour community.
