We are very sorry to announce that our Luton Walk of Hope must be postponed due to flooding. We know you will be as disappointed as we are but the safety of our supporters is paramount.
Unfortunately, due to the unexpectedly heavy rainfall, conditions at Wardown Park make it unsafe to hold our Walk on Saturday 28th September. While our other Walks will go ahead, we will let you know as soon as possible when our Luton Walk is rescheduled.
The family of Amani Liaquat, who died of a glioblastoma (GBM) aged 23 in February 2022, were due to lead the Walk with their Fundraising Group, Fight4Hope.
Parents Yasmin Stannard and Khuram Liaquat, pictured above with Amani in 2021, said: “We are both very saddened that the walk can't go ahead on Saturday due to heavy rainfall. For us it is more than a walk, it is a moment in time to bring Amani's memory to the forefront for everyone to come together and remember her whilst also highlighting the desperate need for more funding for research into brain tumours.
“The rain has stopped us going ahead this weekend, but we are determined to reschedule the walk to another day. I am sure that when we do the crowd will be even bigger, the weather will be kinder, and we will raise thousands towards finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.”
We know how much you wanted to show your support for this event and we look forward to welcoming you all at our rescheduled walk. In the meantime, we appreciate any donations you wish to make.
Thank you for your incredible efforts in helping us to find a cure for all types of brain tumours. Together we can make a difference.
