Brain Tumour Research is shining a spotlight on glioblastoma (GBM) – the most common type of primary high-grade brain tumour in adults – to mark GBM Awareness Week which starts today.
Did you know that the average survival time following a GBM diagnosis is just 12-18 months? Or that just 5% of patients diagnosed with GBM survive more than five years?
This GBM Awareness Week, we are highlighting these stark facts and more, and we’re sharing the stories of those directly affected to show the truly indiscriminate nature of this disease.
But we’re also looking to the future with hope as scientists at our pioneering Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence are working tirelessly to make the progress that is so desperately needed if we are to find a cure for GBM and all types of brain tumours.
