Brain Tumour Awareness Month in March is fast approaching. Will you help us to get our month-long campaign of hope off to a bright start and #ShineALight on this devastating disease?
At 7.30pm on Saturday 1st March, we’re asking you to light a candle and share a photo on social media alongside the hashtag #ShineALight, to raise awareness of brain tumours, show our support for all those affected, and remember the loved ones lost to this cruel illness.
It’s a simple act that will make a big difference to the one in three people who knows someone affected by a brain tumour.
Last year, celebrities and supporters from around the world came together to help us illuminate social media. Included were our Patron, tenor Alfie Boe, musician Nile Rodgers, McFly, cyclist Victoria Pendleton, broadcaster Fearne Cotton and Bridgerton actor Adjoa Andoh (pictured top), all of whom know the pain of a loved one receiving a brain tumour diagnosis. Our Ambassador actor Craig Russell and Celebrity Supporter Sarah Beeny were amongst many others who took part.
This year, we’re asking you to join them and help carry our message on a wave of light.
You can light any candle – or why not purchase your own Brain Tumour Research candle? Buckinghamshire businesswoman Carly Parkins has created a bespoke candle to support our campaign and is inviting people to donate £2, £5 or £10 to our cause alongside the £12 purchase price. For those who are unable to donate, Carly has selflessly offered to make her own small donation, instead.
Carly lost her father to lung cancer in 2022. She said: “I know what it is to lose a loved one and I understand the pain and helplessness felt by many brain tumour families, which is why I was so keen to get involved in this campaign.”
