A 21-year-old living with a cancerous brain tumour has taken on a 13-mile trek to raise money to fund his own immunotherapy treatment.
Isaac Wilton, 21, from Coalville, set off with a dozen of his family and friends on Sunday 27th October, trekking from Leicester City’s King Power Stadium and concluding at Coalville Clock Tower. The funds raised from the epic walk will support Isaac’s private immunotherapy treatment as he continues to fight glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive grade-4 brain tumour diagnosed following a seizure last year.
Isaac (pictured below with mum, Joanne), whose story was featured last weekend in the Mail on Sunday, said: “The seizure at the gym came completely out of the blue. I felt totally normal, then next thing I know, I’m being told I have an aggressive brain tumour, which I never thought would happen to me at just 21-years-old.”
Isaac and his family have raised more than £166,000 so far. They plan to keep the momentum going with other fundraising events, supporting Isaac’s treatment and inspiring others, while working with us to also raise awareness about the urgent need for more research into brain tumours and better treatments.
Isaac said: “I might be in pain, I might be exhausted, and I might need a wheelchair, but I’m going to keep going because I’m fighting for my life. My message to others going through something similar is to surround yourself with amazing people who lift you up and stay strong, even when it’s hard.”
