Revellers will raise the roof for Brain Tumour Research at a rock ‘n’ roll fundraiser inspired by a singer who died from the disease.
The event is in memory of Mark ‘Polo’ Page, a rockabilly singer from Norwich. He was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) in July 2019 and sadly died the following March, aged 57.
His friend Julie Walkey is organising the event which will take place at Tottenhill Retail Park from 3pm on Saturday 16th July. Guests will enjoy music from rock ‘n’ roll bands The V8 Rockets, whose drummer used to play with Mark, and The McCurdy Brothers as well as a number of DJs.
There will also be a classic car display, refreshments and a raffle, with prizes including a signed electric guitar from singer Danny Reno, a men’s Rotary watch and a family day out at Watatunga Wildlife Reserve.
Entry tickets, priced at £10, are available by contacting Julie via the Tottenhill Rock ‘n’ Roll Facebook group.
Julie said: “I’m really nervous because I want us to sell lots of tickets so we can raise a good amount of money and make Polo proud. He and I organised a similar event together five years ago and he loved it. He was also really big on doing stuff for charity and often performed for free at charity gigs so I know he’d be all for this. I’d like to beat what we raised last time, which was £1,500.”
