Our Gala Dinner last month provided a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the incredible impact of our research over the last 15 years, resulting in a frenzy of excitement across social media, as well as widespread coverage in the media, including in Hello! magazine.
The glittering event saw TV personality Sarah Beeny introduce our report, Closer to a Cure – 15 years of Impact, in a compelling film, having been announced as Patron and interviewed on BBC Breakfast on the same day. She was joined by Antiques Roadshow expert Theo Burrell, TV gardener Danny Clarke, world-class tenor Alfie Boe OBE, music mogul Pete Waterman OBE and supermodel and businesswoman Caprice Bourret – all Patrons of the Charity.
Other celebrities who turned out to show their support included Davina McCall, recently recovered from brain surgery, and our Ambassadors athlete Sam Reardon, influencer, podcaster and content creator Abi Feltham and brain tumour patient and campaigner Sam Suriakumar – certainly a true celebrity within the brain tumour community.
Alfie Boe closed the evening with an exclusive performance and was joined by radio and TV presenter Johnny Vaughan for an impromptu duet, while actress Dame Sheila Hancock, Tom Parker’s wife Kelsey, actor Charlie Dale, best known for his roles in Casualty and Coronation Street, actress and singer Clare Grogan and Qian Zephaniah, wife of the late poet and activist Benjamin Zephaniah, were all among more than 300 guests who felt the buzz of The Ballroom at The Dorchester in Park Lane, London.
Guests pledged donations throughout the night to raise an incredible total of more than £30,000 as we celebrated the remarkable research and achievements of the last 15 years. To find out more, read our full Impact Report here.
