Fourth Boogie at the Biscuit for Kieran

Supporters of Boogie at the Biscuit gathered for the fourth time at Newcastle’s historic Biscuit Factory, commemorating seven years since the passing of RAF Wing Commander Kieran O’Sullivan on 15th November 2018.

In 2001, Kieran had a car accident after losing consciousness at the wheel. He was taken to hospital, where it was discovered that he had a brain tumour and underwent surgery on what turned out to be a grade 2 astrocytoma. Despite further surgeries and contending with seizures, Kieran refused “to let the tumour dictate my life and how to live it”.

It wasn’t until September 2018 that Kieran had to leave the career he loved – he’d been cited as having the potential to rise to Air Commodore – due to the progression of his tumour.

Just two months later, Kieran passed away, aged 44. Throughout his life, he had personified his RAF service motto – Per Ardua ad Astra – through adversity to the stars.

The biennial dinner dance, hosted by Kieran’s wife Beth Wright and friends, treated guests to a three-course meal, a lively auction and show-stopping entertainment from renowned events band The Dominos. The evening added more than £20,000 to Boogie at the Biscuit’s incredible fundraising, which now stands at more than £90,000 – fuelling vital research and campaigning to increase the national investment in research into brain tumours.
