Determined fundraiser Katie invites you to her black tie ball

1 min read

Dedicated fundraiser Katie Smith, who has raised more than £30,000 for Brain Tumour Research since her diagnosis with a brain tumour, is hosting a black tie ball.

Mum-of-one Katie, 33, from Stourbridge, is holding her formal event at Villa Park, home of Aston Villa Football Club, on Friday 6 December. The evening will see the much-anticipated auctioning of more than 45 signed celebrity hats.

Famous hat donors include Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy, Sir Chris Hoy, Dawn French, the Aston Villa team and the members of the bands Coldplay, the Vamps and Bastille. The auction will be hosted by Bargain Hunt’s Philip Serrell. There will also be close-up magic, a Christmas raffle and live music.

Katie has been on a fundraising mission since her diagnosis with an oligoastrocytoma four years ago. With the support of her husband Luke, she has set up the Fundraising Group Brainstorm under the umbrella of Brain Tumour Research.

She said: “Fundraising has always been a good focus for me and a way to do something positive in light of my situation. The ball will be a wonderful way to round off a fantastic year of charity events, having previously hosted a samba concert, held collections around the community and taken part in Brain Tumour Research’s Wear A Hat Day campaign.

“Luke and I have been blown away by everyone’s generosity and we’re hoping to sell 150 tickets and to raise thousands of pounds on the night.”

Tickets cost £60 per person or £550 for a table of 10. Over 18’s only.
