Our sister charity, brainstrust, is celebrating 20 years of supporting the brain tumour community. As well as being one of our 26 Member Charities, brainstrust has been a long-standing partner and collaborator with Brain Tumour Research.
Established following one family’s experience of a brain tumour diagnosis, brainstrust was created to address the lack of support available to patients and their families. Today, it is a leading authority, providing vital services to patients, carers, families and healthcare professionals.
Since 2022, Brain Tumour Research has partnered with brainstrust to fund the Patient Research Involvement Movement (PRIME), ensuring patient voices help shape clinical research. PRIME connects patients and caregivers with researchers to provide the patient perspective needed to set up effective clinical trials. Not only does this initiative ensure that patient needs are woven into the trials making treatments more comfortable and supportive, but it makes the trial more attractive to external funders.

Helen Bulbeck, Director of Services and Policy at brainstrust (pictured above), said: “Now, more than ever, people want to be closer to research so that they can feel involved with their care and their condition, ensuring that they understand the landscape, that they can be part of the clinical research agenda and be a transformative force for change”
Our CEO, Dan Knowles, said: “We are enormously grateful for our long-standing relationship with brainstrust and for everything it has done and continues to do to support patients and families at some of the most challenging times of their lives.”
