The countdown is on and there are just 10 days to go until our Walk of Hope!
Hundreds of supporters will step forward together at our events taking place across the UK on Saturday 30th September and many families and friends are organising their own walks to raise vital funds and awareness for Brain Tumour Research. All our walkers are united by one common goal – to find a cure for brain tumours.
Amongst those we’re looking forward to welcoming to one of our events is Antiques Roadshow expert, Theo Burrell, who was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) in June 2022, at the age of 35.
Theo underwent surgery, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and then had a further six months of chemotherapy, which finished in April. Her most recent scan in July was stable.
Theo will join supporters at our Walk of Hope in Chatelherault Country Park in Hamilton, accompanied by her partner Alex’s mum, Elaine Murray, and Elaine’s daughter, Elspeth, as well as friends.
She said: “When I was told my migraines were in fact brain cancer, I was really shocked and scared. The Brain Tumour Research community is so friendly and supportive so I’m really looking forward to meeting other people affected by this devastating disease. Chatelherault Country Park looks absolutely beautiful so I can’t wait.
“Come and join us; this is a Walk of Hope, and there is lots of hope. We want to celebrate that, while remembering those who have died from brain tumours. It’s being able to do something positive out of something negative.”
