Today, the Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence at The University of Plymouth proudly hosts its third annual Research Symposium. This exciting event brings together experts, researchers and clinicians to celebrate the achievements of our dedicated researchers and to spark invaluable discussions on the development of new treatments and cures for low-grade brain tumours.
This year's highlights include keynote addresses by Professor Michael Jenkinson on the management of meningioma, and Dr Jeremy Rees on the journey of low-grade gliomas over the past 25 years.
Dr Leandro De Assis and Ms Libby Hassell-Williams, who were funded by Brain Tumour Research in the early part of their careers, will introduce their promising work on meningioma and schwannoma tumours. And our very own Research Funding Officer, Dr Joanna Cull, will update the researcher community on the Charity and our current campaigning and fundraising activities, to raise awareness and encourage supporters to get involved.
With a combination of academic and clinical research personnel in attendance, the symposium offers a great opportunity for networking, and links lab-based researchers with clinicians who see patients every day.
This year, the Plymouth Brain Tumour Research Symposium 2025 poignantly takes place at the start of Brain Tumour Awareness Month. Our month-long awareness-raising campaign of hope offers a packed programme of activities to raise vital awareness and funds to bring us ever closer to our vision of finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.
