Annie’s run for mum will raise funds for Brain Tumour Research

Brain Tumour Research PR Officer Annie Slinn is taking part in a fundraising run to help fund vital research.

Annie, who has worked at the charity since May 2018, is taking part in the Salford 10km on Sunday 8 September. She is running in support of the patients and relatives she works with and in memory of her mum Judith Slinn who was diagnosed with a grade two astrocytoma brain tumour and died three years ago, aged 54.

Annie, 23, from Northampton, said: “The 10km run is just a small gesture for all the lovely patients and supporters I speak to everyday who are affected by this horrible disease. I’ve met and worked with some incredible people, who have been through the hardest of journeys. It's touching when I see their stories in the media and I hope it brings them comfort and helps to give something back.

“The run will be in my mum’s hometown of Manchester. She was so determined and is the reason I do what I do. She lived with a brain tumour for five years and in the last two months wasn’t able to walk or communicate. Throughout this time she was so strong and always put me and my sister Beth before her. Losing her was the hardest thing but it made me who I am and I hope I make her proud.

“I’m really grateful to everyone who has donated to my JustGiving page and I’d really like to smash my £500 target.”
