Supporters back petition in the media

1 min read

Brain Tumour Research supporters have been making headlines as they back our petition calling for increased national investment into brain tumour research.

Amani Liaquat was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) on her 22nd birthday in April 2020. After her chemotherapy was stopped when an MRI scan revealed tumour growth, Amani’s family had to source lifesaving treatment from Germany. Incredibly, more than £100,000 was raised in just 24 hours to help the family access a new trial drug, ONC201.

Now, Amani and her parents are supporting our petition. They have shared their story with Yahoo! and MSN to help raise awareness and encourage people to add their signatures.

Also supporting our petition is Amber Hanna, who was diagnosed with a rare choroid plexus tumour in February 2020 after her tumour burst and she suffered a severe haemorrhage.

Amber, whose story has received widespread media attention including The Mirror and Metro, said: “I want to use my experience as a force for good. I am so lucky that my tumour was treatable and that I have a bright future ahead of me. Sadly, that isn’t the case for so many other brain tumour patients and that needs to change. I would urge everyone to sign the petition, to campaign for increased funding and ultimately, help find a cure for this awful disease.”
