Supporters are jumping their way into the headlines as they start the second week of our 100 Star Jumps a Day in November Challenge.
Charlotte Hobbs is taking on the challenge whilst receiving treatment for a grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma. The mother-of-two is completing her star jumps while undergoing her eighth cycle of chemotherapy, and has already raised more than £5,200 on her Facebook fundraiser. Charlotte’s incredible challenge has been shared on ITV Wales and Wales 247.
Former soldier Dan Mason is raising funds inspired by his own brain tumour diagnosis. Dan was 22 when, in January 2007, he was diagnosed with a rare grade 2 pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA). His story has been shared in the Plymouth Herald and Devon Live, and Dan was interviewed on BBC Radio Devon.
Dan, who has upped his challenge to complete 240 star jumps every day, said: “There are more than 120 different types of brain tumour, so I’ve doubled that number and have set myself a fundraising target of £2,740 – the equivalent amount it costs to fund a day of research at one of the charity’s Centres of Excellence.”
Jenna Carrington was just 15 when she died from a grade 4 astrocytoma on 3rd May this year. Her aunt Amanda Coughlan is jumping to raise funds to help find a cure in her memory and has shared her story in the Sunderland Echo. Amanda said she was taking on the challenge “so other people don’t go through what she has been through”.
