We are deeply saddened to share that seven-year-old Aaron Wharton has died from a brain tumour.
Aaron bravely fought the disease for three years, but sadly passed away on Sunday 9th April, leaving his mum Nicola and dad Lee.
Announcing the devastating news on Facebook, Nicola wrote: “We are beyond heartbroken to share with you that Aaron, our brave and beautiful boy, fell asleep peacefully in the early hours of Sunday morning, surrounded by so much love.
“He was, and will always be our golden superhero. His strength and determination will forever be an inspiration to us. His infectious smile and personality was adored by everyone he would meet. We can’t imagine how we move on with our lives without Aaron being part of it.”
She added: “If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.”
Aaron was just four when he was first diagnosed with a grade 3 anaplastic ependymoma in April 2020. He underwent four brain surgeries and endured chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but in January 2023, the tumour grew back and the cancer spread. His parents were told no further treatment options were available.
Following Aaron’s diagnosis, his family worked with Brain Tumour Research to raise funds and campaigned with the charity, including supporting our Level Up and Stop the Devastation Petition Report.
Our hearts are with Nicola, Lee and all those who loved Aaron at this most difficult time. We will keep him in our thoughts as we continue our fight to find a cure.
