Brain Tumour Research supporters are setting off on an epic trek to help find a cure for the disease.
A team of walkers will today take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, covering a total of 24.5 miles to summit the iconic peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent, nestled within the Pennine Range of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, in less than 12 hours.
Amongst those walking are Danny Upton and partner Bobbie Dunne (pictured on a training walk) who have raised more than £5,250 inspired by Danny’s 11-year-old son, Jude.
Jude was diagnosed with a grade 4 medulloblastoma in March 2020. He is currently undergoing further chemotherapy treatment after finding out the cancer had returned last year.
Danny said: “I know I can’t do anything to change what’s happening to Jude but I’d like to help make a difference to others going through what he is in the future. I hope our fundraising, and everyone’s generosity, gives them a chance where he might not have one.”
Sisters Amy and Megan Bradley, and their close friends Izzy Limb, Ashleigh Lamb and Tiffany Green, have already raised more than £10,500 – an incredible total inspired by the sisters’ dad Michael, who was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) last September.
Amy said: “Fundraising for Brain Tumour Research is something positive to focus on – it means a lot to me that it’s not just going towards helping my dad, but helping others in the future too.”
Good luck to everyone taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge today! We’re proud to have you on our #FightingForce team.
