Good luck and thank you to the amazing supporters taking on the Great South Run and raising funds for Brain Tumour Research today!
More than 16,000 runners will set off on the 10-mile route along Portsmouth’s coastline, taking in landmarks including Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard and the HMS Victory, heading towards the finish line on the seafront.
Amongst those running for Brain Tumour Research is a 13-strong team raising funds in memory of Graham Green, who died from a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) last November. His three children, Sharon, Andrew and Michelle (pictured), are lacing up along with other family members and employees from Portsmouth Demolition and Salvage Ltd, the company that Graham set up when he was 17.
The team has already raised more than £4,300 on its JustGiving page.
Sharon Hayward, Graham’s eldest daughter, said: “Realising how underfunded research into brain tumours is and mindful of how Dad put family as his top priority, my brother Andy and two of his children, Millie and Jack, my sister Mich, me and my sons Callum and Ryan, cousin Danny, niece Molly and four work colleagues are taking part in the Great South Run to give something back. We all had so much help and support from this truly amazing man.”
We’ll be cheering on all the incredible Brain Tumour Research supporters as they cross the finish line.
