Finnbar’s birthday marked by adventurous fundraising day

1 min read

Brain Tumour Research Member Charity Finnbar’s Force raised more than £8,000 with its Family Adventure Day at Eaton Vale Outdoor Activity Centre near Norwich.

Held to mark what would have been Finnbar’s ninth birthday, the charity enlisted the help of Explorer Scouts and Youth Leaders. The youngsters were invited to Eaton Vale on the Saturday to help with setting up for the event and given dinner on Saturday night, as well as given the opportunity to camp overnight for free. They were also provided with breakfast and a barbecue lunch on the Sunday and, in recognition of their invaluable contribution, each young person went home with a certificate of support from Finnbar’s Force for use in Scouting awards or achievement files.

The day itself saw thrill-seeking families able to enjoy a range of exciting and adventurous activities including canoeing, archery, abseiling, axe throwing and air-rifle shooting to high and low ropes, trapeze, catapult, grass sledging and go-karts, with all proceeds going to Finnbar’s Force.  Younger children were catered for too with stalls, soft play, a bouncy castle, face painting, circus skills, and story-telling.
