Woman told tumour could cause infertility now mum-of-three

As we pass the halfway mark of our Jog 26 Miles in May Challenge, we’re cheering on all the amazing supporters who are clocking up the miles.

Amy Anderson is taking on the challenge after being diagnosed with a pituitary tumour in 2007. Despite warnings that her tumour and treatment could leave her infertile, Amy has defied the odds to become a mum-of-three to Amelia, Freddie and Matilda.

Since her diagnosis Amy has undergone surgery twice – on both occasions, surgery had to be postponed as Amy found out she was pregnant. She also underwent six weeks of radiotherapy and is monitored with annual MRI scans.

Motivated by her experience and after losing a school mum friend to the disease in April, Amy is taking part in our Jog 26 Miles in May Challenge. She has raised nearly £700 and has shared her story on BBC Online, Mirror Online, Leicester Mercury and Nottingham Post.

Amy said: “I enjoy running but haven’t been doing as much as I’d like in recent months. When I heard about my friend, I knew I just had to do something. I’m aiming to run two miles every other day. It’s going to be hard-going but I just put my music on and try to enjoy half an hour of time on my own while I’m out clocking up the miles.”

If you would like to support Amy as she steps out to help find a cure, you can donate to her fundraising page here.
