Our 10,000 Steps a Day in February Challenge starts today and we have been excited at the response to this new fundraiser, with more than 3,500 people setting up their fundraising pages and more than £250,000 already raised.
Here are just a few of the supporters stepping out and sharing their stories:
Lisa Bennett is joining the challenge to support her mum, Jacquie Amor. After being diagnosed with three inoperable brain tumours in August last year, Jacquie has been told she only has a few short months left to live. Lisa shared her story in an interview on BBC Radio Leeds and in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Lynn News and Your Local.
Also clocking up the steps is Laura McNulty whose eight-year-old daughter Isla (pictured) is currently undergoing treatment for medulloblastoma. Isla’s friend Thomas Shepherd was also inspired to join the challenge to support his friend. Having already raised more than £2,000 between them, their fundraising efforts have been shared in the Cambridge News and Fenland Citizen.
Three-year-old Sonia Gallardo was diagnosed with a suprasellar low-grade glioma in August 2019 and is in the midst of an 18-month course of chemotherapy. Her mum, Paola, shared her story in the Manchester Evening News, Manchester Weekly News, The Manc and RealFix.
Thank you to all of the supporters who have signed up to raise vital funds and help raise awareness of the disease.
