Today marks the start of the 16th International Brain Tumour Awareness Week.
Brain Tumour Research is proud to support this awareness-raising initiative. Championed by The International Brain Tumour Alliance, it’s a week-long celebration which unites the international brain tumour community, drawing attention to the particular challenges of a brain tumour diagnosis, and the need for a special response and an increased research effort.
Kathy Oliver, Founding Co-Director and Chair at IBTA, said: “This week is for everyone who has been impacted by a brain tumour. It is for anyone who hopes to see better outcomes for those diagnosed with this awful disease and – on a personal front – it is for Colin, my son who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2004 at age 24 and passed away, aged 32, in August 2011.”
There are many ways you can help raise vital awareness this week (and beyond), including sharing your story, posting our key statistics on social media, fundraising to support research, and signing our petition calling for greater national investment for research into this devastating disease.
