A brain tumour patient who continues to beat the odds is urging people to support our petition calling for increased national investment into brain tumour research.
Richard Preston, 51, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in November 2013. He underwent a five-hour, high risk surgery, followed by 11 months of gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Incredibly, Richard (pictured with his wife Wendy) has defied the odds to survive more than seven years. He is now sharing his story to support our petition.
He said: “I know I am very lucky to still be alive as the normal survival prognosis for GBM is between 12 and 15 months. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer and the only way to change that is through research to find more effective treatments and ultimately a cure. That’s why I am appealing to everyone to sign the petition calling on the Government to increase the investment into brain tumour research to £35 million per year.”
