This weekend, thousands of supporters will lace up to start our Jog 26 Miles in May Challenge.
We’re excited to see lots of people signing up and stepping out to help find a cure for brain tumours. We’d like to thank everyone who has registered to take part and helped to raise more than £100,000 so far – an amazing total!
Twenty-year-old Christina Steele is taking on the challenge to mark the anniversary of her grandad’s death. William McDonald was diagnosed with an intracerebral brain tumour in May 2020 after suffering a fall. He passed away the day after his diagnosis on 24th May. Due to COVID-19 restrictions on hospital visits during lockdown, only William’s closest relatives were able to be at his bedside.
Motivated by her tragic loss, Christina is putting her best foot forward to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
She said: “This May marks the first anniversary of my grandad’s death, so when I saw this event advertised on Facebook, I thought it was a perfect way to remember him, one year on.
“I usually run a few times a week anyway but I’ve had to stop since October, as I had an injury. This will be a great way of getting back into it, all while raising money for a fantastic cause. I want to raise as much money as I can. I hope Grandad would be proud.”
You can take part in this challenge at your own pace. To join Christina and take on the challenge, please join the Jog 26 Miles in May Facebook Group and follow the three simple steps to get started.
Good luck to everyone starting their Jog 26 Miles in May Challenge this weekend.
