A musician who died from a brain tumour is being honoured with a charity concert raising funds for Brain Tumour Research.
Martin Evans was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in 2019. He underwent surgery and radiotherapy, but sadly died in June 2020, just nine months after he was diagnosed with the disease.
Now, Martin’s brother Gary is organising a night of live music to celebrate his guitarist brother’s life. On Tuesday 14th June, music fans will gather at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club for a night of entertainment from bands including Peter Pods Peas and The Strand, for which Martin was lead guitarist during his career.
Gary said: “Music was the one thing we had in common. Whilst I was out DJing venues, Martin was touring with bands and played at Berkshire’s Watchfield Festival in 1972 with the band ‘Conventional Douglas’ and recorded with Spike Island at the BBC in Southampton.
“Martin died during the pandemic which meant we couldn’t get together to celebrate his life. We’re thrilled to be able to remember him whilst raising money for such an important cause, to help fund the fight and find a cure for this disease.”
