Cancer patients must not be “put to the back of the queue”

Long-standing Brain Tumour Research supporter Lisa Brassington was featured on BBC Look North after being told chemotherapy treatment for her brain tumour would not start until July.

The coronavirus pandemic means the treatment she would ordinarily begin immediately has to be delayed. Lisa, 51, from Baildon in Yorkshire, told the BBC she would start her treatment “tomorrow if she could” but she understands it is just too risky; I am not angry, no-one is to blame.”

Our spokesman Hugh Adams told the programme: “We must not put people to the back of the queue and we must still continue to treat cancer patients, continue giving them the treatment they need to beat the disease. The world hasn’t stopped in terms of clinical care just because of Covid.”
