Today (23rd December), our Trustee Jack Goodwin is completing his 15th and final marathon to mark the 15th anniversary of Brain Tumour Research.
Jack will set off from Bletchley in Milton Keynes, at 8:30am for a Die Hard-themed marathon around Caldecotte Lake. The culmination of a year’s worth of marathons on our behalf, Jack is set to complete this final stretch and smash his goal of running 2,740km this year – representing the £2,740 it costs to fund a full day of research at one of our Centres of Excellence.
Jack lost his mum, Debbie Goodwin, in February 2023 to a glioblastoma (GBM). Jack recalled she loved running, having taken part in more than 50 races for charity, the inspiration for Jack's own challenge.
He said: “I’m really excited about it and would love to raise enough money to fund at least a couple of days’ research in Mum’s name.”
After marathons, ultra-marathons and a daily minimum of 8km, we want to thank Jack for his incredible dedication and hard work in achieving this amazing goal and for raising more than £1,500 to help keep sustainable research going. Congratulations, Jack!
There’s still time to donate to us via Jack’s JustGiving page. Alternatively, if you’ve been inspired by his commitment and resolve, you can do something similar and fundraise your way.
