It is with great sadness that we note the death of Susan Lilian Primrose Cunliffe-Lister (Baroness Masham of Ilton), at the age of 87.
The first Paralympian in the House of Lords, her 53 years' membership of the Lords was the longest of any female peer. She was a long-standing supporter of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Brain Tumours (APPGBT) and, in our role of providing the secretariat to the APPGBT, we were proud that she chose to be an officer of the group too.
Reflecting on her passing our Chief Executive, Sue Farrington Smith MBE, said “Baroness Masham was a loyal supporter of the APPGBT and joined us at other Westminster events too. I remember fondly the little chats we had at events such as Britain Against Cancer and I am truly saddened that we will no longer be able to look forward to her presence at our meetings. She will be greatly missed.”
Chair of the APPGBT, Derek Thomas MP, said: “Her decade of support for the APPGBT will be remembered with warmth and affection – she was a remarkable woman.”
