Marking Trustees Week (6th –10th November 2023), we are delighted to extend an official welcome to recent additions to our Board of Trustees.
Both Denise Sefton and Jack Goodwin are motivated to help find a cure for brain tumours because of family members affected by the devastating disease.
Jack, who lost his mother Debbie to a glioblastoma (GBM) in February 2023 after a six- month battle, brings strong skills in data analysis, web design, artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies. A former soldier, Jack is currently working for the British Forces Broadcasting Services (BFBS), overseeing a team analysing data for social media, marketing, campaign marketing, cinema, TV, radio stations and news.
Denise lost a nephew, Theo, aged four, after a two-year battle, to an anaplastic ependymoma and her step-sister, Lynne, was treated for a chondrosarcoma in the brain in 2012. She also has a friend whose ovarian cancer has metastasised into multiple brain tumours, as well as other friends and work colleagues who have personal connections to the cause.
Currently Chief People Officer at Dunnhumby, Denise has worked in senior HR leadership positions for more than 15 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to the charity, including people and culture, reward and remuneration, as well as experience in audit and risk management, governance and strategy.
Wendy Fulcher, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Brain Tumour Research, said: “The Board of Trustees plays a vital role in setting Brain Tumour Research’s agenda and upholding its values. The skills, experience and knowledge that Denise and Jack bring will play an important part in shaping the charity’s strategic direction in the future.”
