A woman living with life-changing effects following brain tumour surgery is organising a team fundraising challenge to climb over The O2 in Greenwich, London, to help find a cure for the disease.
Lisa Connell was diagnosed with an inoperable meningioma in 2005, at the age of 26, and underwent Gamma Knife surgery. Several years later, when a scan revealed that the tumour was growing, Lisa underwent surgery and Tomotherapy, but was left with painful facial spasms.
She said: “Since being diagnosed with a brain tumour, it was really shocking to discover that it’s the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under the age of 40, yet research into finding a cure is so terribly underfunded. It led to me working with Brain Tumour Research to help raise awareness and support the funding of the research being conducted in their Centres of Excellence.”
Lisa is working with the charity and Red Letter Days to hold a #TeamConnell challenge event at sunset on the landmark O2 structure in Greenwich. Taking place on Saturday 26th August, Lisa has 28 places available for people to join her and experience the incredible 360-degree views across London.
She added: “I am inviting people to sign up to join me in the fun, possibly face their fears, and take part alongside me in my Up at The O2 fundraising event, raising a minimum of £100 for Brain Tumour Research.
