The organisation’s support is in memory of its Managing Director, Dr Kevin Gorton, who died in June 2022 following a long battle with a brain tumour.
Morson Group CEO, Ged Mason, said: “Kevin was a friend and colleague to many. Kevin was a dear friend to me, in life and in business, so it’s touching to see Brain Tumour Research featured as one of our chosen charities. Our fundraising will be in memory of him, in the hope that we can build a world free from the disease and help eliminate brain cancer for future generations.”
Other members of staff at Morson Group have also been affected. Head of Bids, Kirsty Hodgson’s younger brother, Matthew, was diagnosed with an astrocytoma in August 2020, at the age of 14.
Matthew underwent surgery, but some of the tumour was left behind because of its sensitive location. He has six-monthly scans and his latest results were clear with no signs of any growth.
Kirsty said: “One day, Matthew’s tumour could grow again, so it’s important to me that if that does ever happen, there’s a cure for it. This issue is so close to my heart, so it’s amazing my company is fundraising for it.”
The Morson Group began its fundraising by taking part in our annual Wear A Hat Day in March, and its Head Office in Salford was lit-up for Brain Tumour Awareness Month. Upcoming events include a golf day, taking place next Friday (7th July).
