With just a week to go until thousands of supporters jump into action to help find a cure for brain tumours, we are really excited to see so many people registering to take part in our 100 Star Jumps a Day in November Challenge.
Amongst the supporters who will be jumping is Marcie Reid. She was inspired to raise funds after former colleague Steve Wright’s brain tumour diagnosis “opened her eyes” to a disease of which she had previously been “very ignorant”. Steve, a father-of-two, was just 47 when he was diagnosed with a low-grade brain tumour after a routine check-up.
Marcie said: “I can’t even fathom getting that news when you think you’re going in for a check-up. Thankfully he was able to have it surgically removed and is now absolutely fine, with a lovely scar right down his head, but it is nice to know someone who has bounced back from such an unfortunate experience – it instils a bit of hope in you, I think.”
Marcie, who is hoping to take the crown at the Miss Intercontinental UK pageant on 20th November, says the star jumps challenge is a great way to help her keep in shape and develop her volunteering and charity work platform.
If you would like to support Marcie’s star jumping, you can donate via her fundraiser here.
