Former Love Island contestant Kady McDermott is among our many supporters who have been sharing their stories in the media in order to help us raise awareness. She was featured in Brighton’s The Argus promoting a house raffle which will see some of the proceeds donated to Brain Tumour Research. Kady supports the charity after losing her nan to a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in 2009. She is fronting the raffle to win a Sussex beach home with hopes that ticket sales will raise £50,000. Featuring in the Liverpool Echo and The Mirror, Beth Parker spoke about the delays in her diagnosis and why she is working with Brain Tumour Research to raise awareness. Beth is currently completing a 20 for 20 challenge and is uploading daily vlogs to her Facebook page to raise money for vital research.
With England in a second lockdown, the Daily Mail reported Sophie Wardle’s story in an article about the impact of Covid-19 on cancer patients. Sophie was diagnosed with a grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma in August 2018 and, as a result of the pandemic, was told her three-monthly scans would be delayed. Sharing her story, Sophie helped to raise awareness of the impact coronavirus is having on brain tumour patients.
