Two Cricket Scotland players have cycled more than 600 miles to raise money to help find a cure for the disease that killed their 38-year-old teammate, Con de Lange.
Craig Wallace and Ali Evans pedalled 672 miles in seven days last week to raise money for Brain Tumour Research. Starting in Dundee on Friday 2 October, their route took them to several of Con’s favourite clubs and destinations across Scotland.
Craig said: “It has been such an epic, memorable week and I’m actually feeling gutted to be finished, in spite of all the aches and pains. It’s been really tough at times but remembering Con has kept us going. The cricket community is an amazing place, like no other. When it’s tough we all stick together and we couldn’t have achieved this without the support of our wonderful cricket family.”
The pair’s amazing efforts have raised nearly £14,000, as well as vital awareness of brain tumours. Their challenge has been widely featured in the Scottish press, including the Edinburgh Evening News, Daily Record and STV.tv. Craig was also interviewed on BBC Radio Scotland’s Afternoon Show.
