Today we are delighted to welcome delegates from 18 of our 26 Member Charities to a workshop in London, celebrating collaboration, growth and innovation in the fight against brain tumours. (Images above taken at a 2024 Member Charities Workshop.)
During the day, each charity will have the opportunity to share updates on their achievements, challenges and future plans, as well as listen to speakers from Member Charities and Brain Tumour Research.
Niki O’Dea-Patel, who lost her son Shay (pictured above with his mum) and set up Shay’s Smiles, will be sharing insights into the charity’s events including challenges and lessons learned, while Fiona Harris-Hunt and Amy Gorse from Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity will talk about rebuilding the charity and developing a new strategy, focused on their unique strengths and USPs.
We are also looking forward to hearing from Alexandra Hadaway (pictured below), a PhD student who joined the team at our Centre of Excellence at Queen Mary University of London, following a generous donation in 2023 from the Children’s Brain Tumour Foundation, as this Member Charity was wound down. Alexandra will be sharing her own personal perspective, contributing to the cutting-edge research going on there, particularly into DIPG.
Dr Karen Noble, our Director of Research, Policy and Innovation will update on the latest developments across the Centres and Joe Waterton, Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, will explore testing a joint appeal and case for support.
It promises to be an illuminating day for all and we hope that everyone will go away with some key takeaways and ideas to implement during the year ahead.
