Dalcour Maclaren joins our fight to find a cure

We’re thrilled to announce Dalcour Maclaren as our newest Corporate Partner. The utility and property infrastructure land consultancy has committed to helping us find a cure for all types of brain tumours, after witnessing the impact of this devastating disease on the lives of two of its team members.

The company, which has 19 offices nationally and whose head office is based in Bicester, has pledged to raise £55,000 during our year-long partnership. The team of more than 500 employees (pictured above left) has planned a packed calendar of fundraising events, from runs to baking competitions to vintage auctions. And, in March, they’ll pull on their best headgear for our flagship fundraiser, Wear A Hat Day.

Senior Business Support Coordinator Sam Dench, 31, from Brackley, nominated the Charity after losing her mum, Sue (pictured below with Sam), to a glioblastoma in 2020. “Mum died three months after her tumour was discovered,” said Sam. “Around that time, I found the Brain Tumour Research website, which was so informative. I was shocked to read that just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to brain tumours since records began in 2002. I want to do more and was chuffed when the charity was voted for by my colleagues.”

Associate Surveyor Vicki Court, 34, from Warwick, was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma in 2019, and has since undergone CyberKnife radiotherapy and a 15-hour operation to debulk her tumour. Vicki said: “I live with tinnitus, dry eye and have lost all hearing in my right ear, but I am so grateful that’s all that’s changed for me.”

Preparing to step up to our 10,000 Steps a Day in February challenge next month, Vicki added: “It’s brilliant this partnership will shine a light on this disease and on the lack of funding for research into brain tumours. I’m looking forward to seeing how we can positively support the brain tumour community.”

Dalcour Maclaren CEO, James Neil (above centre), said: “I am delighted that we have chosen to partner with Brain Tumour Research this year. This is a fantastic charity focused on finding a cure for this truly horrific disease and, like many, I have lost friends to brain tumours.

“Focusing on one charity allows us to make a significant impact on a single cause. Something for our people to rally around, fostering a deeper connection and sustained support. So, the challenge is set: we will do our utmost to raise as much as we can throughout 2025.”

We look forward to supporting Dalcour Maclaren’s fundraising activities over the coming year.
