In memory of Neil Danziger

2 min read

We are deeply saddened to hear that our supporter, Neil Danziger, has died, aged 49.

Neil, a dedicated father-of-two, was diagnosed with a glioma in 2021. Since December 2020, the “selfless” husband and dad had been experiencing light-headedness and phantom smells, and was subsequently diagnosed with a low-grade pilocytic astrocytoma. The tumour was removed via surgery, however, the surrounding cells were found to have mutated into a high-grade diffuse midline glioma.

Despite this hardship, Neil was a hard-working supporter of Brain Tumour Research. He organised a DIY Walk of Hope in 2021, which raised £16,900 for sustainable research into a cure, and then again in 2023, raising a further £15,800.

Though he had undergone surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Neil passed away on Friday 27ᵗʰ December 2024.

His wife, Victoria, said on Instagram: “Neil fought so bravely and admirably until the very end. Even in the bleakest of moments, his positivity shone through. As we watched this cruel disease take him from us bit by bit, he would not allow it to take his spirit.

“The hole Neil leaves is immeasurable, but his memory will live on through acts of selflessness, kindness and love and with every Arsenal victory.”
